All Saints
YOU are a saint.

You might not feel like it. You might not even care…but I want to remind you that you are a saint. The word “saint” comes from the Latin word “sanctus”, and means holy…sacred. Your being a saint has absolutely nothing to do with how you feel about yourself. It has everything to do with the fact that you are, without lifting a finger, completely infused with the divine essence of the universe. Some people call that God. Some have other names for it. I believe that the essence of the universe, the ground of being, courses through every part of who you are. You are, in your most basic identity, holy.
Isn’t it ironic, then, how we live most of our lives with a sense of disconnection from each other, from our world, and especially from any sense of the divine. Life teaches us to believe the illusion that we are separate from each other and separate from the divine essence of the universe, all while placing us under immense pressure to measure up to societal expectations of success and achievement. Today is All Saints Day. Use it as a day to believe in your sacredness, and to embrace your connected-ness with all that is. You are not alone. It’s not just you against the world. We are all part of a crazy, divine, multi-faceted entanglement with God and everyone/everything else. In a world that seems to be addicted to division, maybe it’s time to try recklessly embracing each other in love. Find another sacred person today (they’re all around you), and show them you love them in some way.
